The core benefit consists of a daily benefit for every 24 hours spent in hospital as a result of an accident or illness and is aimed at covering some of the related out of pocket expenses (meals, transport, time off work etc). It is not meant as a reimbursement of medical expenses, so the benefit can be used freely according to the needs or convenience of the patient.
